Design, manufacture and installation of the LIFIRE experimental system for lithium event testing
Experimental system in AISI 316 for a fusion environment, with a design pressure between 0.1 mbar and 5 bar and gas temperatures of up to 600 °C.
Description
The project.
LIFIRE forms part of the Fusion Future programme and aims to develop experimental activities that quantitatively support fire risk analysis in fusion facilities, particularly in the event of lithium leaks associated with the DONES project. Lithium is a highly reactive material, so its safe handling is critical throughout the operating life of the facility. Avancem developed a facility of around 2 m³ with multiple critical interfaces: CF flanges, optical viewports, feedthroughs and a water cleaning system.
